Autumn Mediterranean Gardening Fair, described as a “unique event dedicated to Mediterranean gardening”, will take place at the FISSUL Exhibition Hall in Silves town centre, by the river, on Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29, from 10am to 5pm.
Organised by the Mediterranean Gardening Association Portugal, this will be the first autumn gardening fair in Silves since 2019.
Native plants and seeds from specialised suppliers will be on sale, as well as ornamental and potted plants. The fair will also include sales of fruit and aromatic trees. There will be a wonderful range of succulents available for both the garden and pots.
This is an opportunity to buy the most suitable plants for your garden and benefit from the advice and guidance of experienced nursery owners, speakers and MGAP members.
A rich programme of free talks, workshops and demonstrations is in the pipeline with the theme of ‘Future Proof your Garden’.
Exhibitors and all stands are indoors. The venue has ample free car parking. Our partner for this event will once again be the Parish of Silves, and the organisation would like to thank its president, Tito dos Santos Coelho, and his team for their enthusiastic support.
As usual, it will be possible to pre-order plants for collection during the event. We cannot thank the growers and nurseries enough for their support of this initiative.
On hand will be the association’s popular bookshop and free advice on how to care for and maintain your garden sustainably in the future.
At the MGAP Bulb & Plant Sales stand, there will be a selection of bulbs suitable for Algarve gardens, with plants from the gardens of association members. Advice on gardening and plant identification will also be available to all visitors who request it.
There will also be craft stands related to plants and gardening. High quality botanical art will also be present with postcards and other media. After completing their purchases, visitors can take part in the various free talks that will be on the calendar. There is a space (Crèche de Plantas) where you can store your purchased plants while enjoying the various events scheduled.
Refreshments (including vegetarian) and coffee facilities will be available. There will also be a range of organic products for sale. The organisation asks that in order to reduce waste, visitors bring their own bags and boxes.
Entrance to the fair is free.
