Doctors federation announces new strike dates

FNAM say they have no choice in face of government inaction

FNAM, the National Federation of Physicians has announced a new strike for July 5 and 6, claiming the government has not presented a proposal for wage increases, with less than a month to go before ‘the end of negotiations’.

In relation to what doctors see as one of the most pressing issues (the revision of salary scales), “we still have no concrete proposal from the government”, which means FNAM is “forced to launch the pre-strike notice of what we will do on July 5 and 6”, federation president Joana Bordalo e Sá tells Lusa.

The decision to strike – the second strike so far this year – was taken after today’s meeting with the Ministry of Health, in the context of negotiations that are scheduled to end at the end of this month.
