Erasmus exchange sees student group from Ukraine arrive to ‘recharge batteries’

Among the deluge of pilgrims arriving for World Youth Day has been a small group of students, with their teachers, from a high school in Lviv, Ukraine. These have not come to take part in the ‘largest Roman Catholic event of the year’, rather to recharge batteries and “try and to forget the problems” back home for a little while. Their teachers explain, this is a trip the youngsters need “to receive some positive emotional feelings” for a change. One, named as Cristina, is ready to enter medical school, but tells SIC Notícias she is still not sure if she will. To enter medical school in Ukraine, all pupils must first perform military service.
