Over 3,000 people were in attendance for the 19th ‘Prova do Folar da Guia’ (Tasting of the Guia Folar), the village’s popular Easter event held on Sunday (April 9).
The event is famous for its giant Folar, which this year weighed over 250 kilos and was handed out for free to visitors near the local sports pavilion.
“It was one of the best editions ever,” said Guia parish council president Dinis Nascimento.
He highlighted that the event has cemented its place on the Algarve’s Easter season agenda and helps promote Guia and bolster its local economy.
The event is organised by the local parish council with the support of local businesses and Albufeira’s municipal council and will return again in 2024, with “several ideas” already being floated for the next edition.
