Festival starts next Wednesday, August 24
The Feira Kriativa 5.0 will bring concerts, cinema, immersive exhibitions, poetry ‘battles’ and performances to Faro for a week, starting next Wednesday, among other activities, the organisers have announced.
Speaking to Lusa, Mauro Amaral said that one of the novelties of this year’s edition, which runs until 27 August and where tge programme is centred on the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos (ARCM), is the extension of the event to the Faro Docks area.
In the Manuel Bívar garden, children and adults alike will be able to watch short films during the Inflatable Cinema, a project that won the Acesso Cultura 2023 national award.
There will also be an immersive drawing and painting exhibition by visual artist Elisabeth Ribeiro (Zayle).
The opening concert on Wednesday at the ARCM headquarters will feature a performance by Afghan musician Fazel Ustad, an artist and teacher who is a refugee in Portugal after being a victim of persecution and censorship in his native country.
“This is a week dedicated to enhancing and stimulating culture, artistic production and music, where we can attend concerts in the evening, visit the visual arts exhibition, taste the Kriativo gastronomic menu and attend more concerts,” reads a statement from the organisation.
The programme also includes a tribute concert to former Faro bands PSI, Nome and Melomenorítmica, as well as jazz and blues shows, dance and acrobatics, debates and poetry contests.
The event, centred at ARCM’s base in the city’s historic centre, costs €4 a day for members and €5 for the general public.
Performances start at 19:00.
Feira Kriativa is a season of artistic co-programming produced by the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos, with the support of the Municipality and the União das Freguesias de Faro.
