Five nights of live music at Alameda square
Today (September 6) marks the start of Live & Loud Fest, a free live music festival which will take place at Portimão’s Praça da República (also known as Alameda) square until Sunday.
Organised by Associação Marginália with the support of Portimão’s town and parish councils, the event will “pay tribute to five decades of music.”
This first night of concerts will begin with a performance by ‘Quem é o Bob’, a tribute to reggae legend Bob Marley, and Lagos-based fusion/world music band Plasticine.
The festival will continue on Thursday (September 7) with a tribute to Portuguese rock band Xutos e Pontapés and a performance by Banda Atlântica, featuring local musicians Zé Manel Martins, Kim Brandão and Jorge Carillho.
Keep the Faith, a tribute to Bon Jovi, will take the stage on Friday (September 8) followed by Mafra-based band Ser, while the weekend will focus on the decades of 2000 and 2010, with Ally Garrido’s tribute to Amy Winehouse on Saturday (September 9) followed by a performance by Carolina Fonson and her band, and Foo Riders, a tribute to American rock band Foo Fighters, bringing the event to a close on Sunday (September 10) followed by Portuguese rock band Dapunksportif.
Concerts begin at 9pm and are free to attend.
