Portugal is ready to send up to 120 Civil Protection agents to Canada, to help authorities there battling intense forest fires, minister for interior administration José Luís Carneiro has confirmed. All that is required is “the terms under which Canada proposes transporting them. As soon as this is defined, the force will be on its way”, he said. The contingent will include firefighters, INEM medical personnel, GNR and forestry conservation agents and rapid response teams.
