MAR Shopping Algarve in Loulé is promoting the sixth edition of the “Prevent it Like a Gentleman” solidarity campaign, which will be run at the shopping centre’s meeting place between May 6 and 21.
The initiative focuses on men’s health and offers PSA (prostate-specific antigen) screenings for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer at the HPA Clinic.
The “Prevent it Like a Gentleman” screening is completely free. Those interested can make an appointment in advance by telephone (302 063 457) or email ([email protected]), indicating the MAR Shopping Algarve campaign.
The five previous editions of this event registered more than 1200 PSA screenings, which allowed the detection and treatment of cases at an early stage.
The initiative aims to reinforce the importance of preventing prostate cancer and men’s mental health, associating itself with an international movement called “The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride”, bringing men and women together for a parade of vintage motorcycles on May 21.
This year, participants are invited to participate in the parade, starting from Faro Cathedral at 15h00.
The day ends with live music, with DJ ROCKINDAD and the HOT BILLY RODS band, from 16h00, in the MAR Shopping Algarve leisure area.
In addition to the screening and parade, MAR Shopping Algarve is holding two exhibitions. Presenting some of the most emblematic motorcycles of the English brand’s “modern classic” range, “120 years of evolution in technology & mobility – The history of Triumph” will be on exhibition between May 6 and 21.
Portuguese artist João Jesus’ “Re-cycle” exhibition will be held in parallel, presenting pieces made with recycled motorcycle, bicycle and car parts.
