Rota do Petisco begins on Friday!

176 establishments will participate across the Algarve

It’s almost time for the start of Rota do Petisco (Tapas Route), one of the Algarve’s most popular gastronomic events.

Returning for its 13th edition between Friday (September 15) and October 15, the event will feature 176 participating establishments in the municipalities of Aljezur, Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Portimão, Monchique, Lagoa, Silves, Albufeira, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira.

The event’s passport – which serves a guide to the event and which is needed to enjoy the many dishes on offer- costs €1.50,  with the booklet being stamped at each establishment.

“The more tapas participants try, the more stamps they collect and the more chances they get to win prizes,” says Teia D’Impulsos, the association that organisers the event.

Each establishment offers two menus: the ‘Petisco’ Menu (tapa+ drink), which costs €4, and the Sweet Menu(dessert+snack), which costs €2.50.

Within the Route, there are other smaller routes, namely the World Route – a selection of typical dishes from other countries, such as Cape Verde, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Turkey, India, Thailand, China or Japan.

Vegetarians also have more options than ever to choose from, with 15 establishments serving a vegetarian dish.

Renowned regional chefs are also taking part in the Chefs’ Route. For €5 (dish + drink), foodies are invited to taste some of the best signature dishes of the region in pleasant locations, including hotel restaurants.
