Statue of António Guterres: “Strange” and “ridiculous”

The inauguration of a statue of António Guterres in Vizela, costing just under €90,000 has generated criticism among the local population, writes Público today. People accept that Vizela ‘benefited’ from the success of former prime minister (now UN secretary general) in ensuring the town was elevated to the status of a borough, but they find the spending of this kind of money in a time of crisis “strange” and in some cases “ridiculous”.
