Teaching syndicates appeal to President Marcelo NOT to rubber stamp new law

Nine teaching syndicates have appealed to President Marcelo today NOT to promulgate the latest government diploma on teacher recruitment, but to send it back in order for negotiations to resume. Said a statement to the press , teachers are holding out for ‘correction’ of the “most damaging aspects” of the bill, which have “got in the way of a negotiated agreement”. Meantime, pupils will be returning to schools for the final period of this academic year  on Monday with more strike actions underway: Monday will see a new slew of rotating strikes begin, starting with ‘paralysations’ in Porto; while the S.T.O.P union has called a national strike of its members for April 24, 26, 27 and 28 (April 25 is a Bank Holiday).
