University of Coimbra to lead €9.5 million EU research project to combat obesity

A project led by the University of Coimbra (UC) bringing together 18 entities from eight European countries will receive €9.5 million over five years to combat obesity in children and young people. Entitled “Pas Gras” (‘not fatty’ in literal translation), the project aims to “reduce metabolic risks, environmental and behavioural determinants of obesity in children, adolescents and young adults” and is coordinated by Paulo Oliveira, researcher and vice president of the Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC / UC), said the universityin a statement sent to Lusa today.
