World’s futsal elite coming to Portimão!
Some of the best futsal teams in the world will be travelling to the Algarve in August to participate in another edition of Record International Masters Futsal, a pre-season tournament which will be held in Portimão between August 23 and 27.
The current European champion, Maiorca Palma Futsal (Spain), will join the current trophy holder, Sporting CP, and Portuguese powerhouses Benfica and SC Braga, as well as Kairat Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Anderlecht (Belgium).
The competition will take place under a new format, featuring six teams and nine matches at the Portimão Arena.
There will also be the debut of the Record Summit Masters Futsal, where top coaches – including the current national team coach, Jorge Braz – will be “sharing knowledge” about the sport.
The event was unveiled at Portimão Museum this week, with Portimão mayor Isilda Gomes highlighting its importance to the municipality.
“The Masters is already part of our calendar, and we hope to continue hosting the tournament next year. (…) It is an honour for the city to host this major competition,” said Gomes.
